The nominees for JCSP 47 are:

  • Maj Matt Arndt, “Invited but Denied: Ukraine’s Enduring Position outside NATO.” [Link]
  • LCdr Frédéric J.M. Bard, “How the Royal Canadian Navy Could Leverage Innovations in the Energy Sector in Pursuit of Green Propulsion Solutions.” [Link]

For JCSP 47, the Brigadier-General George Bell Medal Selection Committee consisted of Mr Jeff Josselyn-Creighton, LCol Luc Vachon, and Dr Barbara J. Falk. The committee members wish to extend their congratulations to all the nominated course members. The recipient of the Brigadier-General George Bell Medal is Major Daniel Hogan, as announced by Barbara Thurston during the virtual Graduation Ceremony on 23 June.

The committee would like to further recognize that this year, for the first time in the history of this award, Maj M.R. Kieley was nominated both for his DRP and his Global Vortex paper, entitled “No Umbrella for the Rain: Canadian Implications Following the Global Revolution in Reconnaissance Strike Technologies.” Upon deliberation, and so Maj Kieley did not compete against himself, only his DRP was considered by the jury. However, the committee wishes to congratulate Maj Kieley for this achievement, and we note that this second paper is to be published in International Journal. [Link]
