General The terms below are designed to provide standard meaning throughout the DND/CF with respect to their use in the preparation of correspondence.
Administrative
Correspondence
Administrative correspondence is any written, printed or electronic communication (other than an electronically transmitted message) that is specifically addressed to one or more individuals or organizations.
Administrative correspondence comprises documents used to carry out the day-to-day operations of the DND/CF and provides a record or evidence of events. These documents generally require an action or response, or provide information that will aid in day-to-day operations.
Originator The originator is the individual whose signature block is on a document.
Drafter The drafter composes the document for the originator. The drafter's position/appointment normally is shown after the file number.
WHEN you see IT means
NATO/DND/CF correspondence addressed to NATO/DND/CF addressees.
Public correspondence addressed to non-DND addressees.
